Everything old is new again, and Essential Oils are emerging as something new in spite of being God's first medicine dating back centuries before the time of Christ.

Some essential oils are chemically altered for commercial purposes such as those used in perfume, cleaning products and home decor. The process of altering the properties defeats the purpose of the oils.

Therapeutic essential oils, meanwhile, are intended to be effective physically, emotionally and spiritually. What's more, the side effects, when they have not been altered in any way, are minimal if at all.

We appreciate the importance of botanical purity. In order for the essential oils to sustain their value and benefits, they must be pure in every way. To that end, we began the search that brought us to a source of unaltered oils and one that follows strict purity guidelines: Gas Chromatography or Gas Liquid Chromatography, Flame Ionization Detection (due to the expense FID is not always done by some companies) and Mass Spectrometry.

The GC/GLC, FID and MS testing insures the integrity of each oil, and that means we can rest assured that these oils are free of pesticides, synthetics and will do what they are supposed to do. Also as we learned, if a company refuses to make available the testing results on an oil, you should look elsewhere because, their refusal implies a lack of good testing.

Then, there is the cost factor. We purchase oils from a small company in Medford, Oregon. The owner is a clincial aromatherapist and employs other clincial aromatherapists, an RN and a massage therapist.

The company can claim they provide "hospital-grade" oils because they have been accepted into several hospitals in Oregon, California, Colorado and, pending government approval, VA in Michigan as well as Hospice programs in those areas.

Add in the "plus" that there are no commission payouts built into the cost which makes the oils more affordable*.
